2018 Acura TLX Review

The new mid-size 2018 Acura TLX sedan possess more sporty and belligerent look with technical advancements. This was clearly visible at the launch of the new Acura TLX in 2017 New York Auto Show. The new variant is said to be inspired by the Precision theme, debuted last year in the production form of the luxury SUV 2017 MDX. The upcoming Acura in terms of size holds a center position between TL and TSX models and serves as an alternate of both variants.

2018 Acura TLX Exterior

The new Acura TLX will be available with different packages, like the base model, technology package, advance package and the A-Spec Package. Each package will have some upgraded features. The l-4 base variant features a redesigned front façade with pentagonal grille giving it a sporty look. The headlights are revised and the headlamps are slightly curved towards the fenders. The fenders and hoods now depict more refined sculpture. The base model will be available with 17 inches wheels.

The V6 variant will have a diffuser at the back and the twin exhaust finishers in the rectangular shape. It will be running on 18 inches wheels. In addition, new seats with different color upholstery and chromed finished side sills will be added to the tech package of the V6 model. More enhanced features are catered in the Advance Package like a Surround View Camera system, decklid spoiler in matching color, power folding mirror, and LED fog lights in the trapezoid shape.

The V6 A-Spec model possesses stronger outlook features as compared to other packages. It is accessible in two configurations, i.e. FWD or SH-AWD. New circular fog lights have received LED treatment and the front façade is exclusively designed for the A-Spec package. The twin exhaust finishers embodying the rear diffuser along with the decklid spoiler in black color. The 245 series tires are housed by the 19 inches wheels. The side sill adornment and the decklid fender at the rear holding the A-Spec badge have enhanced the insistent look of the exclusive A-Spec package.

The interior of the 2018 Acura TLX holds some premium and refined features. The seats have leather covering with enhanced support. The base model caters a sports steering wheel having the thick rim and the Tech package upholds new seating with contrast upholstery. The driver can get additional comfort as the driver’s seat has a power driven thigh extension. In Advance Package the buyers will get the heated steering wheel and back outboard seats. It also has a wireless built in charging pad. The cabin looks more illuminated with additional white LED ambient lights.

And that’s not the end; the A-Spec package has more for its buyers. It features an electric power steering with the exclusive A-Spec badge. Buyers can either choose the red or black color for their door trims and Alcantara seats. The front seats are ventilated. Like the advanced package it also has LED ambient lights but in red color and wireless built in charging pad.
Technological Advancement

The new Acura TLX 2018 provides an upgraded capacitive display through seven inches touch screen. The screen is positioned in a manner that both driver and front passenger can easily access it. The ODMD 2.0 (On Demand Multi-Use Display) is introduced the first time in any Acura vehicle. Not only Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but Sirius XM 2.0 is also supported by this interface, so the users can enjoy instinctive menus with better response timing.

Safety features

The new 2018 Acura TLX will be featuring the dynamic safety tech suite ‘AcuraWatch’ as standard. The suite will cater features like:
• Road departure warning
• Automatic emergency brake system
• Lane keeping assist
• Forward collision warning system
• adaptive cruise control
Apart from above safety features the AcuraWatch also bundles up standard active driving assistance and crash avoidance features which have not provided by any other vehicle of this class.

Engine

The new Acura TLX will continue to have i-VTEC 2.4 liter l-4 cylinder engine as standard with the front wheel drive system. The engine can generate 206 horsepower and a torque of 182 pound-feet based on a technology called i-VTEC variable valve by Honda. Whereas it will also offer an optional V6 3.5-liter engine with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. The V6 can produce 290 horsepower and a torque of 267 pound-feet. The l-4 will be paired with the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and the V6 will have a nine-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy and other related information have not disclosed by the company.

Price and Release date

The pricing and release date has not revealed by the Company yet. We expect the Acura TLX will reach the dealers by the end of this year with the price tag slightly higher than the current four-cylinder base model which is $32,950. And off course, the top packages will cost more to the buyers.
It is definitely one of its class’ well-equipped vehicles with enhanced technical features. Those looking for a sedan with smooth handling and sporty look and feel can book their Acura TLX without hesitation.
