The 2019 Acura RDX Prototype is a compact SUV that was shown to the world during the 2018 North American Auto Show. This car has a new design, thrilling performance, a host of innovative technologies, and a new luxury standard in crossover SUVs. It’s a five-passenger car that boasts of a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and an automatic 10-speed gear transmission system.
2019 Acura RDX Changes, Exterior
The new RDX hal law center of gravity, sharp look and wide presence to comfortably fit five people. This inspired and evocative design stems from Acura’s signature design known as the Diamond Pentagon Grille. The design is more athletic with its wider body, longer wheelbase, and smaller front overhand.

The 2019 RDX comes with a wheelbase that is 2.5 inches longer and a track that is 1.2-inches wider than its predecessor. The shorter overhangs for both the front and the rear maximizes the interior space for this car. The hood and the rocker panels have curved lines to enhance the strong lines of the car’s body.
This is the first model that has been designed from start to the end, without the redesign, it shows Acura new face. This distinctive front fascia has been married to a keenly sculpted body that features the brand’s next-generation Jewel Eye headlights. It is LED exterior lighting with dynamic and modern lines.
The car has a trunk of 26.1 cubic feet and a wide a rear hatch that makes it easy to open and load cargo. The seatback can be released for a 60/40-split bench. This creates one trunk on either side of the shoulders for convenient handling of cargo. The maximum towing capacity of this car is 1500-pounds.
Acura RDX 2019 Interior
The new Acura RDX concept 2019 comes with one of the best-designed cabins that include sporty seats, ELS Studio 3D audio (16-channel), and a precision cockpit. The features within its interior design give it a driver-centric sophisticated outlook. It has been made from high-grade materials and boasts of new technologies such as True Touchpad Interface.
The car uses an absolute one-to-one positioning system which includes the 10.2-inch high-resolution display (HD) and an improved information control system. It has been redesigned with new brushed aluminum, Olive Ash wood parts in its interior, of course, there is luxury Nappa leather and others. The dash also includes secondary switches, rotary controls, and shift buttons fitted at the top of the center console for an automatic transmission.
The True Touchpad Interface that comes with this SUV is a new feature from the manufacturer. It includes an Android operating system that is installed on the big display. The display has been mounted in a way that brings it closer to the natural line of sight of the driver.
The head-up display design makes it easier to interact with the system and uses the advantages of using remote and touchscreen option. Most remote interfaces on the market operate in the same way like a computer mouse. This is not the case with this car’s touchpad as it has been precisely mapped to give you exact location in the driving environment. A new natural voice recognition language system has been introduced to make it easy for drivers to use this car.
The 2019 RDX has a 2.0-liter DOHC VTEC direct-injected turbo engine that gives half more torque than the older model. This engine has a DOHC VTEC valvetrain, and a Dual VTC (Variable Timing Cam). It combines with a 10-speed automatic gear transmission system to quickly respond to your driving needs.
Just like its predecessors, the new RDX is expected to have three options to choose from. These are the AcuraWatch Plus (which includes the driver assist features), the Technology package (which includes the navigation, ELS audio, and sports seats), and the Advance Package (which includes additional luxury features like remote engine start and vented seats). The standard version is the front-wheel-drive but there is an option to request for an all-wheel drive (AWD) variant.

The AWD variant of this car will have Acura’s latest SH-AWD feature that includes a new rear differential. This feature increases the maximum torque capacity. This means that it will be one of the most advanced torque-vectoring AWD cars in its segment. The Adaptive Damper System plus Integrated Dynamics System gives you four drive modes. These are Snow, Comfort, Sport, and Sport+.
Price and release date
The manufacturer of the 2019 Acura RDX concept is expected to introduce a new sporty A-Spec variant when they finally release the car in the market towards the end of 2018. The basic AWD model of this car will cost $38,295 while its well-equipped Technology model will cost $41,995. The loaded Advanced AWD model will cost in the region of $44,995.
