2019 Honda Insight Review

Honda is set to reveal the latest classy compact sedan car during the 2018 New York auto show. The placement of this car is in between the Accord and the Civic models and it will be known as the 2019 Honda Insight. It is a distinctive car that comes with attractive styling and a range of premium features that will please its users.

2019 Honda Insight Exterior

The exterior of this car boasts of a streamlined sedan design accompanied by a low and wide posture. This is then eye-catching by the characteristic flying wing grille from the Japanese manufacturer and a daring front fascia. Some of the expected features include low-profile taillights, LED headlights, sharp and aggressive character lines, lavish wheelbase, and extensive coupe-like roofline. The trunk space for this car is 15.1 cu-ft which is big enough to rival other midsize gasoline cars.

The touring version of this car will get the 17-inch aluminum wheel, moonroof, rain-sensing wipers, and LED fog lights. Its chassis shares the same platform with Honda’s 10th generation Civic car. You should expect various exterior enhancements that enhance the efficiency of this car on the road. One of this enhancements is the use of Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) in the structure of the body.

Honda Insight 2019 Interior

The interior space of the new 2019 Honda Insight mimics that of the Civic model. The design includes thoroughly refined features and luxurious materials to give you a confident and relaxed driving experience. A dual-pinion variable-ratio electric power steering similar to that of the Civic model has been included.

For efficient braking performance, the car uses the electro-servo braking system. There is a 7-inch digital display for the basic models and an 8-inch display for the EX trim. Some of the features you should be looking out for include push-button start, folding rear seats, smartphone compatibility, home-screen shortcuts, and Bluetooth connectivity.

In terms of audio, a 6-speaker system has been included together with SiriusXM radio. Apart from the leather perforations, the power adjustment options for the heated front seats are 8-way for the driver and 4-way for the passenger. The other included features are dual-zone climatic controls, Wi-Fi capabilities, Homelink Remote system, and satellite-linked navigation system.

The new japanese sedan is powered by the latest two-motor hybrid system. This system features an Atkinson cycle 1.5-liter engine. The engine comes with a robust electric propulsion motor that is quite effective. A lithium-ion battery pack made of 60 cells is also included. In terms of horsepower, expect 151 hp to be generated by this unit and a torque of 197 lb-ft.

In most cases, the car will operate as a hybrid model in which the motor is connected to the gasoline engine to generate the required power. To maximize the driving experience of this car, there will be three modes to choose. These are Sport, Econ, and Normal. The steering will have slowing down selectors mounted on its wheel to enable you to select among the three regenerative braking levels.

With the new Honda Insight 2019 hybrid technology used in this car, there will be no need for the automatic transmission system. The drive axles will be powered by the electric motor and a lock-up clutch will be included to assist in the high-speed operation.

Price and release date

The 2019 Insight model is expected in the market within the third or the last quarter of 2018. Honda has projected its mpg rating for the city as 55 putting it at the same level with Prius Liftback. With the Prius models costing between $23,000 and $25,500, we expect this car to be priced within the same range.
