2019 Acura MDX A-Spec is ready for New York

The Acura brand has extended its mid-size MDX SUV to include a new sporty A-Spec trim. The 2019 Acura MDX A-Spec will be shown to the general public during the 2018 New York auto show and now has a more muscular posture. Some of the key highlights in this release include a larger wheelbase, unique cabin touches, and standard AcuraWatch technologies.

2019 Acura MDX A-Spec Changes, Exterior

The exterior of this car now looks more aggressive. Some of the features to look out for includes a modified front end, 20-inch (gray color) alloy wheels, smoldered taillamps and headlights, bigger tailpipes, and dark chrome decorations. The car is fitted with 265 low-profile tires and the wheels get a 10-spoke design.

A more antagonistic front and rear fascia combine with colored side sills to give this car a unique appearance. The exhaust tips are much bigger than its other trims. An inclined window frame and the use of bright exterior colors makes this car look like a coupe. The other standard features include automatic high beams, sunroof, power liftgate, keyless ignition and entry, and adaptive suspension dampers.

Some of the interior upgrades in this three-row SUV includes MDX-specific gauges, console trim, and pedals. It will also get to choose between black or red leather seats. The 2019 MDX seats have faux-suede inserts and use contrasting foreground stitching. A broad steering-wheel rim similar to that of the standard MDX model is included. The steering wheel includes paddle shifters for easy navigation.

There is also a unique decoration for door sills, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Just like its predecessors, 2019 MDX A-Spec has an impressive cabin space both for cargo and passengers. A 15.3 cu-ft of space is offered behind the third-row seats and can be folded into a 50/50 split to create 43.4 cu-ft. Finally, a dual infotainment system is also expected.

The car is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine just like its MDX standard counterpart. The A-Spec is expected to use an SH-AWD system. The power capabilities are expected to be 290 hp while its torque is 267 lb-ft. There is a rumor about second engine, with the same size, but with more then 350 ponies. Furthermore, a nine-speed transmission system will be used. It should be able to move from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. The SUV is expected to have a better fuel economy and improved handling capabilities.

latest Acura SUV uses an AcuraWatch suite which includes a number of driver assistance features.
They include:
– forward collision warning,
– departure mitigation system,
– collision mitigation system,
– lane keep assist,
– and adaptive cruise control + low-speed follow.

Price and release date

New 2019 Acura MDX 2019 is expected to get to the market within the third quarter of 2018. Considering the fact that the previous AWD model is trading at about $51,500, this trim should be able to trade within the same region. This model will be produced in Ohio factory, US.
